twistin sandy's blog

wherein you will find ramblings about fiber dyeing, spinning, knitting,... and photos (sometimes), family and friend updates, rants when i need to, lack of upper case letters, weird punctuation and freedom of expression (especially mine)! To answer the question of where did it come from... this "twisted mom/twisted sandy" thing. ...during the 90's a group of my spinning students became spinning friends, which morphed into Twisted Sisters, which evolved into calling me the Twisted Mom.

Rachael asked me to make the ring pillow for their wedding in Sept., so I did a kind of crazy quilting/embellishing type of thing.  i don't remember ever seeing a ring pillow up close, so was kind of in the dark about what to do... and this is what i came up with.  i like it a lot and hope she will, too!! some of the buttons i used came off of a baby dress of mine that my mom saved for me, one of those sweet dainty fine cotton dresses from back in the olden days... probably worn one time, then saved.   and my gathering and stashing tendencies paid off with a lovely supply of laces and buttons and doodahs to choose from.  i also used a couple of pieces from a handmade (by someone else) dress of mine from several (many) years ago.  anyway, it was fun to do and i feel honored that Rach asked me to do it for her!!!

and another reminder to myself: "Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty, well-preseved body, but rather to skid in broadside, with wine glass in one hand and chocolate in the other, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming... WOW! What a ride!!"

About Me

My photo
Sandy
I knit, spin, dye fiber, quilt, garden, live in the pacific northwest and love it all. whenever i have the opportunity, i enable others in all things fibery. as often as possible i spend time in a small village in the rugged hills of Crete, Greece and enjoy being with friends there (some of whom have become like family)... and enjoy the local wine and raki. and i always love coming home to my queendom and our sweet dogs, Meika and Tasha... a siberian husky and a mix of husky and who knows.
